On Saturday, July 27, 2002, Continuing the proud east-side yachting tradition, the Los Angeles Cacophony Society gathered on a surprisingly cool summer day to once again compete for golden goblets and glory. Admiral Rabbit was away at sea, so Rear Admiral Walt and First Officer Cris officiated over the day's activities. It was a swift victory by the one-man crew Parrot Fucker (aka Eric Howard) who, thanks to his cowardly retreat from the water battle and fierce paddling, won the race! (Though he did traumatize many of the nearby children by removing his sweat-soaked shirt.) In a distant second were the Scurvy Cats who fought bravely in the water battle and were awarded the trophy for "Valor in The Face of Battle". Winning the much cherished Golden Duck award for Last were The Paddling Privateers--never a slower boat was launched. At the Award Ceremony, Ginger, who had just arrived from Gilligan's Island was awarded the trophy for "Fashion Bravery." Let's face it, if anyone else had won she would have been devastated. Consolidating into two crews, a hunt for treasure was engaged. One group headed South, the other North. In the end, the Northerner's found the sunken booty, looted its precious cargo and drank all its rum. Arrrrr! Afterward, the group
retired to Barrigan's where they told sea stories and lousy pirate jokes
over chips and ale. Fun was had by all and no one drowned or lost an eye.
